If you’re heading to Dollywood this summer and are looking for some fun ways to cool off, you are in luck! The popular theme park is home to a pair of soaking water rides, as well as several indoor show venues and some of the fastest roller coasters in the USA! You’ll also find plenty of air conditioned souvenir shops and restaurants, making it easy to beat the heat! Here are 4 great ways to stay cool during a summer visit to Dollywood theme park:
1. Take the Plunge on Daredevil Falls
Daredevil Falls is not only one of the most thrilling rides at Dollywood, but one of the wettest! This incredible boat ride takes you on a journey through an abandoned logging camp where you’ll encounter close calls with some bears and old lumber machinery that has been left behind! The ride finishes up with a splash-tacular ending as your boat careens over a 60 foot waterfall at 50 miles per hour! The only requirement to join the fun on Daredevil Falls is that riders must be at least 42 inches tall to safely fit within the boat.
2. Get Soaked on the Smoky Mountain River Rampage
Another great way to stay cool during a summer visit to Dollywood theme park is with a ride on the Smoky Mountain River Rampage! This white water rafting adventure is sure to leave you soaked as you experience lots of dips and turns that cause water to come splashing into the raft! You’ll want to ride the Smoky Mountain River Rampage several times as no two rides are the same, making the anticipation of getting drenched part of the fun! Note that riders must be 36 inches tall to ride, and riders under 48 inches must be accompanied by someone 16 or older.
3. Ride Front Seat on the Wild Eagle Coaster
Dollywood has an amazing assortment of roller coasters to take your breath away, such as the Mystery Mine, Thunderhead and Lightning Rod! If you want to cool off but don’t feel like getting wet, just head to the front seat of the Wild Eagle! The unique design of this “wing coaster” allows you to ride on the side of the tracks rather than above them, so that your legs are dangling freely in the air! After cresting the 135 foot first drop, you’ll soar through the sky like an eagle at speeds reaching 61 miles per hour! Keep in mind that Wild Eagle riders must be a minimum of 50 inches tall and a maximum of 78 inches tall.
4. Explore the Dollywood Emporium
While strolling through Dollywood on a warm summer afternoon, duck into some of the souvenir shops to enjoy the cool air and find some fun merchandise! The largest store in the park is the Dollywood Emporium, where you can find t-shirts, hats and other apparel to remember your day in the park! There are tons of other gift items too, ranging from Dollywood mugs to homemade fudge!
