1. Take a Photo With Dolly’s Statue
One popular activity people love to do in Sevierville is find Dolly Parton’s statue in front of the Sevierville Courthouse. It depicts Dolly sitting on a rock holding her guitar. The statue debuted in 1987, and people from all over the world take photos with the statue while they’re in town!
2. Walk Along the Burchfiel Grove & Arboretum
One free thing to do in Sevierville your whole family would enjoy is walking along the Burchfiel Grove & Arboretum. The city has several greenway trails that are open to the public, but this particular trail runs along the Little Pigeon River. You’ll even be able to see the Great Smoky Mountains along your walk!
3. Find Murals Downtown
Not only do people find Dolly Parton’s statue in downtown Gatlinburg, they also take photos with the murals that are painted along historic buildings. If you drive down Bruce Street, you will see a mural that is dedicated to Red’s Cafe, a popular diner in the area many years ago. Red is serving young Dolly Parton a hamburger in the diner in the painting. Across the street on the back side of the parking lot for downtown Sevierville, you will find a beautiful monarch butterfly mural that was painted by local artist Pinkie Mistry.
4. Find the Harrisburg Covered Bridge
A unique spot to find that won’t cost anything is to drive to the Harrisburg Covered Bridge. This is a historic bridge in the area, and it was originally built in 1875. It’s a beautiful area to take photos and enjoy looking at a small part of Sevier County history!
5. Fish in the Little Pigeon River
If you have any fishing fanatics coming with you on vacation, one of the best free things to do in Sevierville is to fish in the Little Pigeon River. While you don’t have to pay to park or walk down to the water, you will have to invest in a Tennessee fishing license, but at a small price. You and your kids will have fun trying to catch all kinds of fish, and you can even fish in the river behind our vacation rentals!
6. Go Wine Tasting
Another popular activity that won’t cost you anything is wine tasting. The Rocky Top Wine Trail has several wineries in the area, but three of them are in Sevierville, including the Apple Barn Winery and Hillside Winery. You can stop by and taste their signature flavors, and if you want to continue to the Pigeon Forge wineries, you can!
