When you spend a vacation at our Smoky Mountain condo rentals, you are just a short drive away from Wears Valley! This beautiful valley is filled with stunning mountain scenery, unique attractions and a peaceful ambiance that beckons you to visit! It also runs parallel to Great Smoky Mountains National Park and offers some of the easiest access into popular areas of the park! Here are the top 3 reasons to explore Wears Valley during your Smoky Mountain vacation:
1. Spectacular Mountain Views
One of the main draws of Wears Valley is the spectacular views of the Smokies, so keep your camera or cell phone ready to capture some of the best photos of your vacation! While you’ll see amazing scenery in every direction during your drive along Wears Valley Road, head over to the Hawk SkyLift for some incredible aerial views of the mountains! This 30 minute round trip chairlift ride takes you high up into the hills, where you can exit to enjoy the Hawk’s Nest at the top! Just hop back on the chairlift whenever you are ready to ride back down!
2. Fun and Unique Attractions
Another top reason to explore Wears Valley during your Smoky Mountain vacation is to discover some of the fun and unique attractions! One of the most exciting attractions along Wears Valley Road is Goats on the Roof, a delightfully wacky gift shop where goats really do live on top of the building! This store offers an excellent selection of souvenirs, as well as gem mining, tasty treats and a thrilling mountain coaster right next door! You also won’t want to miss the chance to feed some goat chow to the hungry rooftop residents by using the special “goat-cycle”!
3. Secret Entrance into the National Park
If you want to avoid the traffic heading into Great Smoky Mountains National Park, take advantage of the Wears Valley entrance! This “secret” entrance takes you directly into the park and connects to popular areas like Cades Cove, Clingmans Dome, Elkmont, Newfound Gap and Tremont! This entrance also leads straight to the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic area, where you can stop for a delicious picnic lunch! To access this entrance, just follow Wears Valley Road to Line Springs Road and turn left. Continue on Line Springs Road for 1.4 miles and it will eventually change into Wears Cove Gap Road as it crosses the national park boundary.
